Information - Making Marie Antoinette

Eighty hours of unseen Versailles footage

In 2005, Eleanor Coppola filmed her daughter Sofia directing Marie Antoinette at Versailles — the first production allowed inside the palace. Eighty hours of that footage went unseen for twenty years, and has now been shaped into a standalone film.

The documentary covers the production itself, Milena Canonero’s costume work, and Sofia’s experience of directing at 34 while her mother filmed her.
