Information - Ipswich Umbrella Climate Café

The Climate Café has been running for two years in various locations but now it has found a new home in Ipswich Umbrella.

It is a place for people to come together within the local community who share a concern about human-induced climate change and hope for a better future for our planet. The Climate Café is a place to discuss these hopes and concerns with others and in the process gain and provide encouragement, support and solidarity.

Over the months we have watched a film, discussed and shared books, considered our personal carbon footprint and what we have done to reduce it. We have shared information about other like minded groups and events.

As we continue to meet we are building connections and beginning to find a way that we can engage with the wider community.

Climate Café does not aim for any specific outcome beyond bringing people together so we can all feel less isolated in our concerns about climate change.

Everyone is welcome regardless of age, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, immigration status, carbon-footprint or experience/knowledge about activism or climate change.

The Climate Café is a place to share grief, fear, despair and sadness but also a

place for hope, action and learning from each other.

Each week, as we meet to drink tea, eat biscuits and talk we can empower and energise each other so we can face our uncertain future with hope and confidence.

Come and join us, you will be welcome.

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
