Information - Ian Gillan Talking Gib’rish

We have some incredibly exciting news for rock fans here in Ipswich! The legendary voice of Deep Purple, Ian Gillan, is coming to the Ipswich Corn Exchange for a very special, one-of-a-kind evening of stories, laughter, and music history.

This is your chance to get up close and personal with a true music icon as he brings his highly anticipated “Talking Gib’rish” tour to our town. Whether you’re a lifelong fan of hard rock or just love a good behind-the-scenes story from the golden age of music, this is a night you won’t want to miss.

An Evening with a Rock Legend

For more than sixty years, Ian Gillan has been one of the most distinctive and celebrated voices on the global stage. From his early days growing up in Hounslow to fronting Deep Purple—one of the pioneering bands of hard rock—Ian has seen and done it all.

During this intimate speaking event, Ian will be reflecting on the experiences, the music, and the unique outlook on life that shaped his remarkable career. You’ll get to hear firsthand stories about:

  • His early musical journey with The Javelins and Episode Six in the 1960s.
  • Joining Deep Purple in 1969 and creating rock history with iconic albums like Machine Head and the legendary anthem “Smoke on the Water.”
  • His acclaimed role as Jesus Christ in the original 1970 London studio recording of Jesus Christ Superstar.
  • Fascinating tales from his time with Gillan, Garth Rockett and the Moonshiners, and Repo Depo.

The “Talking Gib’rish Tour” promises to be candid, warm, incredibly funny, and completely unfiltered. It’s a rare opportunity to hear the history of rock ‘n’ roll delivered straight from the man who lived it.
