Mario Bava’s newly restored cult spy-fi classic gets a late-night screening at King Street Cinema.
About the film
Based on a 1960s Italian comic, Danger: Diabolik is a campy take on spy-fi, pairing Bava’s distinctive visual approach with Ennio Morricone’s wildly experimental score — a mix of psychedelia, disco, funk, free jazz and rock opera. Its inventive Pop Art visual conceits went on to influence later musicians and filmmakers. This restoration was scanned from the original 35mm camera negative.
