Information - Constable 250 Workshop: Layered Landscapes
On Wednesday 22nd July join Suffolk based artist Lily Hammond to create a unique layered artwork. Celebrating 250 years of John Constable, this family workshop explores landscape through paint and layering. Inspired by Constable’s love of the Suffolk countryside, participants will create a mini painted landscape and add hand-drawn tree silhouettes on acetate to build depth and contrast. This accessible mixed-media activity encourages visitors of all ages to respond creatively to nature, leaving with a finished layered piece of mini artwork to take home!
Sessions are 45 minutes long and start at 10:15 AM, 11:15 AM, 1 PM, and 2 PM. All materials will be provided along with full guidance. This event is suitable for ages 5+. Younger children may need help from an adult. Under-16s must be accompanied by a parent or carer at all times.
This workshop will take place in the Great Hall, located on the ground floor. For helpful information, such as how to find us and what facilities Christchurch Mansion has, we recommend reading our Access information: Access at the Mansion
The Constable 250 project is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we are able to deliver Constable inspired family holiday workshops March 2026 – March 2027.
