Information - Climate FRESK – Workshop
Climate Fresk is a 3-hour interactive workshop and serious game designed to raise public awareness about climate change by making the scientific findings of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) accessible and engaging.
Created by French engineer Cédric Ringenbach in 2015 and formalized as a nonprofit in 2018, the workshop uses a deck of 42 cards (for adults) that participants collaboratively arrange to map the cause-and-effect relationships of the climate crisis, effectively “painting” a visual fresco.
The session is divided into three phases: linking the cards to understand systemic connections, creatively decorating the resulting fresco, and debriefing to discuss emotions and identify collective solutions. Based strictly on established scientific facts from IPCC reports, the method avoids expert-led lectures in favor of collective intelligence, aiming to shift participants from anxiety to agency.
As of 2026, the initiative has reached over 2 million participants across 165+ countries and is available in more than 45 languages. It is widely used by universities, businesses, NGOs, and government bodies to foster climate literacy and inspire actionable environmental strategies.
This is a donate what you feel workshop, with a suggested donation of £5.
Each workshop has a suggested donation, which covers the cost of any bought materials, refreshments, and overheads. We do not want price to be a barrier to any of our workshops, and these remain free to attend. We also appreciate any and all donations, as these help us stay open.
