A Journey Through Cosmic Country and Loner-Folk

Get ready for a night of atmospheric soundscapes as Brighten The Corners brings a truly unique co-headline show to Ipswich. On Friday, 14th August 2026, the stunning surroundings of The Church will play host to an evening of “cosmic country,” “loner-folk,” and ambient exploration. If you love music that feels like a widescreen movie for your ears, this is one you won’t want to miss!

From Portland to Ipswich: Jeffrey Silverstein

Coming all the way from Portland, Oregon, Jeffrey Silverstein has been making waves in the alt-Americana scene. Described by NPR as having a “gentle sweetness” reminiscent of Beachwood Sparks and Silver Jews, his music is the perfect blend of steady grooves and peaceful reflection.

Jeffrey’s latest work, ‘Coming Back Around’, explores the feeling of things coming full circle—moving homes, moving on, and finding peace in the process. Having toured across the US with big names like Steve Gunn and William Tyler, we are so lucky to have him bringing his intentional, soulful sound to our town this summer.

Sheffield’s Own Cosmic Voyager: Bobby Lee

Joining Jeffrey is Sheffield-based artist Bobby Lee, who trades in a “wide-screen brand of cosmic country-folk.” His music is full of space, pawn-shop guitars, and a swampy groove that brings to mind legends like JJ Cale and Tony Joe White.

Bobby has become a sensation among “discerning heads,” with his records gaining support from Mojo Magazine, The Guardian, and BBC 6Music. His recent collaborations have blended west-coast canyon-rock with new-age mellowness, creating a sound where Brian Eno and Gram Parsons feel right at home together. It’s the kind of music that feels like a warm afternoon sun, even in the heart of an Ipswich evening.

Special Guest: Lone Mesa

Opening the night is Norwich-based Lone Mesa. Expect a captivating set of “primitive folk” and ambient exploration that will set the perfect tone for the incredible performances to follow.

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
