Information - BTCP: Fuzzy Lights / The Feathered Thorns

Get ready for a magical evening of atmospheric music as Brighten The Corners brings the incredible Fuzzy Lights to The Smokehouse this March! If you’re a fan of haunting melodies and deep, local storytelling, this is a night you won’t want to miss.

Discover the Sounds of the Fens

Hailing from Cambridge, the acclaimed psych-folk quintet Fuzzy Lights returns to the stage following the success of their critically lauded album, Burials. They are currently touring their fifth album, Fen Creatures, which is a beautiful and thought-provoking meditation on the environmental crisis.

The band uses the folklore and history of East Anglia as a lens to look at our relationship with the natural world. From Iron Age hill forts to the rising sea levels of today, their music creates a “temporal tapestry” that connects our ancestors to our modern lives.

Musically, expect a captivating blend of experimental drone and crystalline folk. With Rachel Watkins on vocals and violin, the band creates vast, immersive sonic landscapes that perfectly mirror the mysterious geography of the Fenlands. As UNCUT puts it, they are “Outstanding… like the Dirty Three meeting Low.”

Special Guests: The Feathered Thorns

Opening the night are The Feathered Thorns, who bring their own unique stories from the shadows of the Norfolk/Suffolk border. Their music is a mix of folklore fantasy and domestic truth—part remembered dreams and part visceral memories. It’s the perfect blend of tender melodies and gritty realism to set the mood for the evening.

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
