Information - BTCP: Brown Spirits

Get ready for a trip to the outer limits of sound! Brighten The Corners is thrilled to bring the incredible Melbourne-based psych trio, Brown Spirits, to the intimate stage of The Smokehouse this May.

Described by MOJO Magazine as charting a path to the “outer limits of Krautrock, psych, and deep funk,” this is a rare opportunity to see a globally acclaimed band in the heart of Ipswich. Brown Spirits hold the impressive title of being the first-ever Australian act to sign with the legendary Soul Jazz Records, a testament to their unique and heavy sound.

What to Expect

From psyched-out Krautrock and free-jazz “wig outs” to deep, funk-flavoured jams, Brown Spirits are known for playing every show with incredible intensity. Their sound is a beautiful mix of 1960s and 70s inspired “kosmische musik” mixed with what fellow musicians Kikagaku Moyo call “warm Aussie sunshine.”

The trio maintains a strict DIY recording ethic, and they’ll be bringing tracks from their latest full-length release, Cosmic Seeds. Expect thunderous psychedelic excursions, moog-driven melodies, and those hypnotic motorik beats that are guaranteed to get you in the zone.
