Information - Board Games @ The Brolly
Collaborative or cooperative board games are games in which players work together to solve puzzles, overcome obstacles, reach goals or tell stories together. Some of these, like ‘Pandemic’, involve moving pieces on a board, while others are card games (‘The Mind’), use tokens (‘Sleeping Gods’), pens and paper (‘Dungeons and Dragons’), or just conversation (‘Year After Year’ and hundreds of other tabletop role-playing games).
From 13:00 on alternating Sundays we will be playing some of these games, amongst others, at whatever pace people prefer. There will be no tournaments, leagues, or entry requirements. The youngest to the oldest gamers are warmly invited to attend, with games for younger children having specifically been bought. The emphasis is on having fun and on learning to work together, rather than in competition. This means there will be no Monopoly and no chess (despite the organiser really liking chess) but deception games in which players work together (like ‘Betrayal at House on the Hill’) will potentially be played. Cooperative games are, by nature, great for inexperienced players, so please come along regardless of whether you’ve played board games or tabletop games before or not.
