What is the Show About?
Written by the hugely talented Apphia Campbell, this acclaimed play follows a successful singer and civil rights activist seeking redemption after the untimely death of her father.
As she enters a period of self-reflection, she takes us on a journey through her life—from her early days as a young piano prodigy destined for a life in the service of the church, to her rise as a renowned jazz vocalist and a powerful voice at the forefront of the Civil Rights Movement. It’s a beautiful, heartbreaking, and ultimately uplifting story of determination and survival.
