Information - 4 Week Course in Basics of Hand Building in Clay

In this short course taught by potter, Karl Greene, you will learn all about the basics of hand building in clay.

Week 1 – Slab

We will cover rolling out the clay, concentrating on getting consistent results, tips, tricks and hints to make things easier for you using minimal equipment. Karl will also teach you all about things that can be pit falls and easy wins.

Week 2 – Coil

We will learn all about the coiling technique, you will learn how to make a variety of coils, different methods for joining and progressing your work. Karl will show you tips and hints that will make things a bit easier as well as being shown different sorts of clay.

Week 3- Pinch pot

This week is designed to let you explore the creative process further through the pinch pot method.

Week 4-Decorating

With your chosen items from the previous sessions being bisque fired, Karl will lead you through the process of decorating with under-glaze and glazes. Your pieces will then be fired and ready to collect at a later date. Come with ideas of what you would like to make or work from examples provided.

Suitable for ages 6+ children must be accompanied but an adult.
