Information - The Saturday Session – Ipswich Buddhist Centre

Current theme -‘Practising for the Welfare of the World’.

We live in shockingly violent times. There are major conflicts between nations. Social media is awash with harsh, aggressive and hateful communication. And there are inspiring situations overflowing with people co-operating together, bringing peace and supportive conditions to many.

What tools are there to help us live in freedom and peace? Where can we find like-minded people? What practices are there to support ourselves as individuals, and help us live in harmony with others?

These situations and questions are not new. They are age-old. What has the Buddhist Tradition to offer here?

This new theme for the Saturday morning sessions will strive to offer help in these areas. Ways in which we can act skilfully, helpful tips for meditation practices, and helpful outlooks from the Buddhist Tradition.

The sessions will be drawing from the book “Living with Kindness: The Buddha’s Teaching on Metta” by Sangharakshita, the founder of our movement, which is available in our bookshop or online if you would like to read along.

Each session will introduce a meditation that you will be encouraged to take away with you and practice. There will also be explanations of practical aspects of the Buddhist way of life.

We hope that you can make each session, but if that is not possible, come along when you can – each morning will be designed to be stand-alone and complete in itself.
