Information - School Days Of The Rich And Famous – talk by James Thellusson

Welcome to the Ipswich Institute!

Members and non-members are welcome to join us for these sessions

Was Boris Johnson a troublemaker or a teacher’s pet? Was Alistair Campbell right to call the royal family ‘thick’? What happened at the Rugby School riots? This talk looks at the school days of famous Brits – from Queen Elizabeth I to the current day including comedians, poets, politicians, rock stars, royals and entrepreneurs using historical material including their school and university reports to paint a humorous history of British schools.

James is a freelance writer and speaker. His book – ‘School’s Out – truants, troublemakers and teachers’ pets’ (‘An utter delight…’ Harry Mount, editor of the ‘Oldie’) is available now. He is researching a 2nd edition and attendees are invited to bring their own best and worst school reports and experiences to share at the end of the talk.

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
