Information - Myth, magic, superstition and belief in Anglo-Saxon England

Step into the world of Anglo-Saxon myth, magic and belief with Sue Moss and Carole Winstanley, volunteers at Sutton Hoo National Trust.

This talk, presented in authentic Anglo-Saxon costume, explores how beliefs changed across the centuries from the migration period through to 1066.

Discover how charms, symbols and ancient traditions were woven into daily life through rune poems, the power attributed to words and objects, how the role and the importance of the wise women evolved, and the ways in which people sought protection, healing and good fortune.
