Information - Meet the Artist: Lily Hammond of Uwu Studio
On 16 January, take a look around the playful Colour Shape and Pattern exhibition and listen to Lily Hammond as she talks about her artwork Weaver Birds: From Lagos to Ipswich. This work explores identity, movement, culture, and connection. You will then discover and weave your own story through imagery, texture, and play to create your own bird-inspired artwork. No experience necessary!
Doors open at 6 PM, the talk begins at 6:30 PM in the Wolsey Art Gallery, and the workshop starts in the Great Hall at 7:15 PM. The event concludes at 8:30 PM. This event is suitable for ages 18+.
Lily is an illustrator working from her studio in Ipswich, Suffolk. Having graduated with a first-class honours in illustration. Her practice spans the creative sector from working on a commission for Black History Month for the BBC to artwork created for Ipswich Town’s programme for Call Me Ted.
She has a real passion for colour and pattern, which feeds into her love of interior decor. Her portfolio demonstrates a plethora of different subject matters while staying true to her loves and passions in life. She works in a variety of media—predominantly digital art, markers, and acrylic painting—and uses textured and layered techniques to create energetic, eye-catching creations intended to uplift the audience.
This event will take place in both the Great Hall and the Wolsey Art Gallery. The Wolsey Art Gallery has step-free access through the garden.
