Information - Let’s talk mental health – Group

Come along to our weekly drop in Group at the Steam House Cafe.  It’s for Adult’s 18+ and last for around 60 minutes. Come join us for open conversation – everyone welcome

Session Topics: The topics for each session will be either fixed topics, which will be repeated on frequent basis. Fixed topics are resources from Dual Diagnosis group sessions.

Flexible topics, potential once a month can implement awareness day topic for a session e.g. (National Suicide Prevention Month, Mental Health awareness, Anxiety awareness)

Fixed Topics (Repeated regularly):

  • What is mental health? (Dual Diagnosis)
  • Understanding and managing stress-Triggers-Coping strategies (Dual Diagnosis)
  • Healthy Patterns and Self-care (Dual diagnosis)
  • Emotional Toolbox (Dual Diagnosis)

Flexible Topics (Awareness Day Topics – Once a Month):

  • April: Stress Awareness Month (1-30)
  • May: Mental Health Awareness week (12-18)
  • July: National Schizophrenia Awareness Day (25)
  • September: World Suicide Prevention Day (10)
  • October: World Mental Health Day (10)

Groups Purpose and Aims:

The groups also provide a safe space for people to speak openly and without discrimination and can be impactful for those who live in areas where there is a lack of wider support and services. Group members are encouraged to build on their strengths, share what they know and learn from others.

Self-Management: empowering clients to manage their mental health.

Build Knowledge and Understanding: Gaining awareness and insight into mental health issues.

Acknowledge emotions and thoughts: Developing mindfulness about one’s feelings and thoughts.

Healthy Coping Mechanisms: Learning new strategies for managing mental health challenges

Breaking the Stigma: Spread awareness and reducing the stigma surrounding mental health.
